Photodynamic therapy
Precancerous skin lesions - one area (max 5x5 cm)
Photodynamic therapy for precancerous skin lesions (e.g., actinic keratoses, Bowen's disease). The photosensitiser selectively accumulates in abnormal cells, and subsequent light activation precisely destroys them, sparing healthy tissue.
- Recommended number of sessions
- 2-4 sessions at intervals determined individually by the physician
- Physical activity
- Protect the treated area from direct sunlight for 48 hours; avoid swimming pools and saunas until healing
- Indications
- Actinic keratoses, Bowen's disease, superficial basal cell carcinoma (in selected cases after physician qualification)
- Contraindications
- Pregnancy, allergy to the photosensitiser, porphyria, photosensitivity disorders
